A Day in the Life of a Sixth Former
Firstly, let me start by wishing you a very happy Christmas and a successful 2017!
As you are aware, our deadline for application to the Sixth Form at Debden Park High School is Friday 20th January 2017. It is important that you and your child have as much information on which to base your decision regarding subjects and courses. We wanted to share with you the plans for January to help your child with this process.
On Friday 13th January 2017, the Year 11 timetable will be suspended for the day and students will be invited to come and experience a day here in the Sixth Form or at a local college of further education. Here at school, students will come in business suits and take part in A Level lessons and enrichment tasks in keeping with the routine followed by our Year 12 students. For those students going to spend the day at a local college, details will be sent out in the New Year.
As with our sixth formers, the students will be allowed to leave the school site at lunchtime, returning promptly for lesson 6. All students deciding to leave the school site will need to provide their own lunch or bring in money to purchase their own food. However, if they decide to stay on site, they can use the school canteen. If you wish your child to leave the school site, please ensure you sign and return the permission slip attached by Monday 9th January.
This is a fantastic opportunity for students to experience a day in the life of a sixth former leaving them with a clear understanding of the nature and style of A Level and BTEC lessons. It is a day that will leave them feeling inspired and informed.
